For fruit juices containing pulp, the filling machine's product tank should be equipped with a low-speed agitator and utilize a recirculation system to ensure the pulp remains evenly distributed throughout the filling process. Additionally, the filling valves should be designed to eliminate dead zones, thereby preventing the accumulation of fruit pulp.
Aseptic Cold Filling: After undergoing Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) sterilization, fruit juice is rapidly cooled to ambient temperature (25–30°C) and filled into pre-sterilized bottles and caps within a sterile environment. The advantages include the preservation of flavor, color, and nutritional content, as well as lower packaging costs (as heat-resistant bottles are not required).
Hot Filling: Fruit juice is filled at a temperature of 85–92°C, utilizing the heat of the product itself to sterilize the bottles and caps; this process is subsequently followed by bottle inversion and spray cooling. The disadvantages include the requirement for heat-resistant bottle designs (resulting in thicker, heavier bottles) and a certain degree of flavor degradation.
